To put the cost of the trigger in perspective, FRT uses $450 in .223 ammo every 71 seconds (assuming $0.45 per round and 14 shots per second). So the decision to buy a fast trigger carries with it a big cost in ammo. 5 min of shooting time costs roughly $1900. I'm not saying it isn't worth it, I'm only saying the initial cost of the trigger is small in comparison to running costs.
You dont shoot like that. Blast a few off have fun, push the button the other way and shoot with a dramatically improved, like from a different planet, trigger. Its is a 3 position with an AR trigger.

Most youre going to shoot at a time is 50-100 depending on a thr drum. Otherwise its 30. Shoot it, let the chicks dig then get back to normal shooting.

I really like the idea of the SuperSafety but I hate push button safeties. That means I need a full FRT trigger, which is way more expensive. Someone needs to invent a flip Super Safety.
Someone just did. Atrius Development. Apparently they're gonna land sometime next week. Some people are skeptical because they apparently released a FRT that was total garbage once upon a time...but maybe they got this one right?

Why does that guy wear a full face mask? .
It's mostly, now, because he's playing a character and doesn't want his "character" to affect his real life. Apparently he's youtube famous in less firearm friendly spaces but I haven't dug that far into it.

He also did 3dp2a stuff before which is a community much more enamored with anonymity because while mostly legal the ATF hasn't been very accepting of the designers and promoters of decentralized armament manufacturing. Just look at the Matt Hoover situation that was happening when he started his channel.

Matt was selling machine gun conversion devices . Intent

Drawings of a device, that when cut out and bent doesn't work, isn't a machine gun conversion device. The ATF, the same people that spent hours to reactivate an RPG, and then had to put another firearm into it to make it work so they could convict someone, couldn't make it work. A Super Safety is closer to a machine gun conversion device then an auto key card.

Matt also wasn't selling them, he was telling people that someone was selling them and where to get them.

Its still intent. What was his intent? If I shoot a deer statue late at night I get convicted of poaching . No deer involved. If I get online to hook up with a 14 year old girl and its ALWAYS a 46 year old sheriff deputy I get convicted of child whatever. I had the intent of hooking up with a minor. Matt was schlepping a machinegun conversion device. That was his intent whether it worked or not. Thats what he was convicted of. Everyone goes home, right?

The lightning link card was sold as a machinegun conversion device and while the ATF might not have been able to get one to work that is immaterial. I could get one to work, no problem.

RPG's dont need to "work" . They just need to be a tube without a bore sized hole. Knowing the law is of some importance.

Out of curiosity, would you have a link to this case? Sounds interesting and/or hilarious. Thanks. :)

While most of what the feds do with this stuff is of course crap, I have LONG told those who want to push the line with them are playing a dangerous little game. Had a good buddy who was doing this in the late 70's and finally ended up in real trouble. They have no sense of humor about it. Once someone gets on their radar they can make like miserable. To me? Just not worth it.

Heres the government's press release about it, I can't find anything with the transcripts of the motions and arguments that aren't behind a paywall.

Thanks. I knew about the Key card case, but hadn't heard of the RPG one.
