Wanna get out of the box?

Not knowing much of anything 10 or so years ago, and seeing this in a gun rag, I ordered one at Keith's. It's pretty nice gun and I can hit a 10" steel at 80 yards from rest. Back then it was just a few $$ over a grand. $1,009.00 if I recall correctly.
Tanfoglios are sweet! I bought a cheaper version in the Sar k12 sport x. Most accurate gun I had shooting fast until I tried the grand power X-caliber. K12 has a really sweet single action trigger but longer reset that some folks may not like. Grand power rotating barrel guns are well known in Europe competition circles but relatively unknown in the US.

X caliber match version videos fyi. Most say that out of the box is as good as a modded out shadow2. I can't say as I've never shot them head to head.

For a cheaper alternative the old version (mark 12) of the Excalibur is $579. I'm very happy with it. Hell the old version of the compact (striker fired with irons) q1 is $300 and it outshoots all my red dot pistols. The time to back on target is crazy cuz recoil is so low and smooth (relative to the others I mean, including heavy full sized metal pistols). Grip is slick on the sides so I put talon grips on both q1 and x-caliber. Global ordnance is the place that sells grand power pistols in the US. Newer version are optic ready and are called mark 23 which means designed in 2023. Old version is mark 12 which means designed in 2012 and are not optic ready. Mark 12 are half price of mark 23. I only shoot single action fwiw and never used the da.

I'm a fan of 1911's in general and if you like the platform, you should treat yourself to a really nice one at some point in your life. I mean, you work hard and deserve to buy yourself something pretty once in a while.

Also, we are nothing here if not enablers. You're welcome. :)

With that said, I do not, however, own any 2011's yet, but I want one...or ten...in the worst way. But I struggle on which one to get...err...which one to get FIRST. Staccato, Atlas, Nighthawk, and Wilson's double stacks, all have my attention. I need to find a few new friends that own these and will let me shoot them.

That said, Wilson's rendition seems the most interesting to me. I love that they built a single, one piece frame, and they ditched the grip safety.

They are nice to shoot. And they make you a better shooter but it's not worth the price point for me. Others will disagree.
I don't own one. Out of my budget for now. But I've shot one and it's that observation quoted above. It was really smooth to shoot and I was very accurate right away. My edc's are glocks and I am a fan. But of the handguns I shoot I am most accurate with my comped Sig Legion P226. A neighbor had just bought it and we were shooting in another neighbor's backyard range. I shot his Legion and it just felt right. Bullets in the bullseye confirmed that feeling. Anyway, turned out neighbor didn't like it after. He gave me a great deal on it and I've loved shooting it since. Thing is, shooting the Staccato the one time felt like that, but even better…

I like my CZ Shadow 2 9mm enough that I bought the CZ Tactical Sport 2 in 40 S&W as a companion gun. Now I'm CZ poor.
I have owned only one Cz and I still have it the SP 01 Tac just love that pistol .

Yup. I have a few buddies who have high end 2011s. I'll leave it that way. Normally when I go to the range or out shooting it is with them. So i'll just provide the ammo and get my itch scratched for the time being without dropping that kind of cash on something that would simply be a range toy. I would never EDC one and every gun I own has a purpose and every pistol I own has been in my EDC rotation.

If I had unlimited funds I would buy a 2011 (not a staccato though) just to have, but I don't and I prefer to buy ammo.

:s0002: Range toy IS a purpose. :s0108:

Just curious. What would you buy in a 2011 with unlimited funds?

I only have a little experience with this firearm. I don't know which model it was. All I know is my friend had spent about $4000 between the Delta point Pro and a 9 mm Staccato. I cannot believe how easy the gun was to rack. It felt like a 22. It was so gooey and funny feeling like you could pump it in the air and get the gun to rack, needless to say, I could not believe how big of a piece of crap that gun was. Always jammed. Only ran on 147s. I would never want one, especially for the cost.

Then the other day I was at a gun store in OC, AFS. There was a "police officer" purchasing something and bragging at the counter about the fact that their local jurisdiction decided to start carrying these. He was bragging about how cool it was and then he mentioned that the red dot site broke off while he was shooting it at the range and then bragging about how cool it is that they sent it back and staccato will fix it for free. I kept thinking to myself, that is the dumbest thing I've ever heard, the gun broke. Duty guns should not do that. Can you imagine if it did that on the back blow and the site hit him in the face? Of course, at this point, I was already bias and dislike the gun, but that just blew my mind and sealed the deal. Get a 1911 they've been around for a long time, brother.

Have a Staccato XC and Tanfoglio Witness Limited Xtreme Custom. My son's run both in competition. They both run like a raped ape and have been very dependable. Parts for the Tanfo aren't as plentiful, mags for the Staccato aren't as cheap. Tanfo was less than half the price and came as a nice package (extra springs, 2 different front sights, 30 or 4 mags with bases and a solid case). I wouldn't hesitate to buy either again. Is the Stacatto worth it? If you have the funds and desire for one, yes. Just remember, good mags ain't cheap for them. Once you get into the higher end 2011 game, everything else for em is expensive also. Just my .02, milage may very

A "duty gun" that isn't drop safe either. Pass.

If you're going to drop $2k+ plus on a pistol and your financial situation allows you to only buy one you need to make a decision it's exactly what you want that pistol to do. Weigh the pros and and cons. The Staccato is a fantastic pistol and worth it imo. The CZ Shadow, TS, TS2 or TSO imo is also fantastic. If you like a 1911 platform the Staccato is tuff to beat for a semi custom double stack 1911. The Sig P226 XFIVE Legion would also be on my short list in that 2k-$2600 range.

+1 on the Athena, maybe with a Cheely L2 SS grip. TTI Sand Viper would be a close second just because I really like lines of it and well..."unlimited funds".

P226- ZEV. Don't need anything more.

Missed the in 2011

Wilson Combat eXperior
Wilson won't call them 2011s but this is double stack mag and as close as I would go near a 2011.
