I'm starting a thread to show you all the progress of the build DSC gunworks is currently doing for me. The gun started as a 5" prodigy full of all the MIM in the world and it is quickly turning into a high end 2011.

The first modification was a gen 1 Staccato grip stippled by McMullen stipple works in Puyallup. Brandon does first class work as simple or complex as you need with quick turnaround's.

Next I sent the grip, frame and slide to DSC out in Michigan. Dave also does some Class A work also with turn around times that would make your head spin. Here are the guns and parts layout for the start of work.
It's getting a full overhaul with only the slide and frame remaining stock.

I'm just learning about the 2011 world, so excuse my question if the answer is obvious.

Why buy a budget 2011 then upgrade it to a "high end" one as opposed to buying a better one to begin with?

Just curious.

Look forward to watching the masterpiece unfold

I'm curious as well. What is the cost difference between a top end one vs starting with a Springer?

The springer has a surprisingly great slide to frame fit, and I like to send guns off to make them how I want. Similar to when I send a colt out to have a 1911 smith build it. I'll be into this gun about 800 less than an XC and 1700 less than a bare bones custom starting.

Last post until it is finished and in hand!
The arrow serrations have been milled on top and everything ready to be coated!
I had to class up the tactical look with the serrations a little.

Very nice !!!!!
Are those the original grips that were modified, or is that aftermarket?
Come down my way and I will be happy to help you break it in.
It has a gen1 staccato grip that was stippled. I traded the guy who stippled my grip for the factory grip plus some cash. He wanted a grip to practice on as it would be his first of that style.
