They also imported the pre-ban FAL Rifle Springfield SAR-48 made in Brazil.
Later changed the name to SAR-4800 post ban.
Springfield Armory was importing some really great rifles in the mid/late '80s that largely flew under the radar of U. S. shooters. Today that has changed greatly as shooters and collectors seek out the pre-ban guns.

I was fortunate to find an unfired SAR-48 a few years back. The SAR-48s were built by IMBEL and are considered one of the best FAL variants made.

That's funny, I had a guy a few years back message me outta the blue from GA and was really aggressively trying to buy this from me. He wouldn't take no for an answer. He got up to 3k. He found the post as well in the bowels of the internet.
Im probably an idiot for not selling it, but I kinda like having it in my safe. 😀
Funny, yes. I wonder if it's the same guy from NWFA I bought mine from years ago for like $1,100 as I recall. Several years later he messaged me repeatedly asked me to sell. I didn't.

He was nice at first, then pushy at the end he was down right mad that money wasn't what I was after. It was kinda funny. My step dad gave me this years ago. It was from his swat days and I just sat in my safe. Looked up the history on it one day and found it was kinda a unicorn.
