No where did I see the gun being called anything but a gun.
No rifle, pistol or SBR mentioned.

A rifle can't legally be made into a pistol…. So if it started life as a REGISTERED rifle and has a barrel under 16" it is a SBR Accourding to the NFA. Stock or not.

Atleast that's how I have understood it to be. Not like it really matters. Criminals do criminal things.

What the lower is registered as is what dictates it.

Once a rifle. Always a rifle. The clothes you put on or take off doesn't change its gender.

I have a legal SBR, but it doesn't look like one. Before it was a pistol. Now it's a short barreled rifle. It was just as deadly without, with a brace or with a stock.

Yup. That's how I understand it. I have a few SBRs as well. And they don't become a pistol the minute I pull off the stock or put on a brace. It's still a SBR. On the flip side I can throw a 16" upper on it and I no longer have to send out my permission slip to travel with it.

The laws are super convoluted by design. And the average gun owner has no idea what they are doing in regards to what's legal and what's not. Whether we like it or not.
