Unless the cops removed the stock for the photo, that is a pistol not an SBR.

could be "made from a rifle" but yeah first glance that's a pistol.
That is possible that it was put together on a receiver that was originally produced for a rifle. If so it would be nice if they provided that reasoning when releasing the photo for public consumption. Otherwise it reeks of intimidation, as if they are trying to make AR pistol owners sweat a bit.

Perhaps there was a vertical foregrip on it when found. Also that buffer tube seems long maybe there was a stock that was removed.? My AR pistols buffer tube seems to be shorter, and the brace only moves about half of what the distance is on the rifles I've had>. Or could just be liberal prosecutors don't know what they are doing too.

Could just be a simple case of someone in the police department / media ....
Not knowing a damn thing about firearms and making a statement.

The big black powder gun show is coming up this weekend...
Sure wish I had a dollar for every firearm that has been misidentified ....would have a mountain of money to spend there...:D

I spose it depends on the letter of the law. That buffer tube is for a stock. While it doesn't have a stock on it in the pic, it's not a pistol or brace tube.

You sure? Have you checked the registry for that given serial number? You don't know what you don't know

Welcome to Intro To Felony Stacking 101 :s0114:
Is it a SBR? 🤷‍♂️
Is it a pistol? 🤷‍♂️🤷‍♂️

Is it something else that the overwhelmed public defender will have to deal with increasing the chances of a plea deal?

I don't think the perp really cares about the nuance of firearm laws. Hard to say what this really is without knowing if it was originally a rifle, but I guarantee perp gave a shart less until he got caught. Only gun nerds care enough to know the difference and we aren't out there committing crime.

That doesn't matter, if it doesn't have a stock on it and didn't start with one, you can use any buffer tube on a pistol.

Do they care? I doubt it. Saying it is a scary black short barred rifle 😱 instills more fear and pushes the narrative and subsequent call onto the sheeple to ban everything.

Ya know "for your safety"

It's an SBR if the lower is registered as a rifle. But I do not have access to the serial number or NFA registry. So who knows.

Either way AR pistols are dumb. Haters gunna hate.

Most guns are dumb.

We run around trying to get our hands on the one we desperately want. Then try to convince ourselves it fits into our lives.
Only to have it sit unused for years.
