Smith and Wesson Mountain Guns

I'm not a revolver guy. I've owned three double actions over the years and they always seemed to find a new home. That being said I think Smith and Wesson is on to something with their new no lock classic revolvers. They are very nice looking and when I seen them I had to stop and look. I told a friend they were very nice, but If I were to ever buy a revolver again it would have to be a model 686 with no lock, preferably a plus. Well low and behold a week later here we go! Lipseys posted a video on youtube about their new exclusive mountain guns. Now I can't stop thinking about them........

I was at the S&W SHOT kickoff dinner on Sunday a got a chance to shoot the Mt Revolvers

The triggers are good, the grips are made by Tyler Gunworks, which are way better than Smith could ever come up with. The sights are very usable...if that's you're interest, they are worth a look.

Anything that Lipsey's puts their hands on deserves a look.

I was paired up with Jerry Miculek, he's a hoot to shoot with.

Didn't watch the video so maybe they say something about them, but they look like Roper style grips, an excellent choice!

Yes. The Model 69 in 41 instead of 44 would be ideal. I was recently swayed by the Lipsey's Flat top 41 Bisley, but held off because it's not really what I want. I would buy an L frame, 5 shot 41 Mag. At least two guns I have would be up for sale.

I've passed on a few S&Ws over the years only BECAUSE they had the Hillary holes.

Came close once, on a 586 because the price was right but didn't do it.

I don't get why anyone would want the 10mm in a revolver. The mountain gun they're peddling is the same weight as a 4" 686 in 357 magnum. Is it because it's different? Like getting a 357 1911 or something? Maybe I'm just a simpleton but I like my revolver cartridges rimmed and my auto cartridges rimless. I totally get the 22 version though, drool…..

While it's not "my thing", a 10mm does include some powerful rounds and some much lower cost plinking/training ammo compared to a 357, let alone the 41 Mag.
(I'm also not one to say the 10mm equals a 41 Mag, but it's no slouch.)
At BiMart the other day they had 357 Mag ammo on sale for $37 a box of 50, I believe. 38 Special was $24. Neither of these were premium ammo. A box of 10mm was $10 for 20 cartridges and they had much higher stocking levels.
By the way, my revolvers are in 38, 357 and 44.

Good point, that makes sense. I haven't bought 357 in forever since I have quite a bit and although I do buy 10mm I never considered it cheap. My 45 autos get more use.
