Last night, my GF asked me to choose one of the several Christmas presents she got me and open it early... ended up being a roll (20 each) of Walking Liberty silver coins. I was frik'n astounded!

After much thanks, I then proceeded to gently chastise her for spending so much on a gift for me. She said it wasn't that bad, as she had bought them a coupla months ago when silver was ~$50/oz. It's almost $70/oz this morning...
Does she have a sister? And/or can you post your GF's number? ;-)

Man that is just amazing - FORTY PERCENT increase in value- she did good!

Does she have a sister?
Yes, but she's married to a real nice guy. I like him a lot, he's pretty funny and a very warm gentleman.

How about No.jpg

She bought most of the silver that she has (pounds and pounds of it) back when it was $14-$16 per ounce. That's like 360+ percent...

There is a Run on the London physical Silver Market:

Merry Christmas!!!!

Talking heads say it's gonna get interesting when ETF's that have been selling "paper"gold and silver have to now supply the physical gold and silver to investors who want it now . Since they have been selling more gold and silver than they actually have stored.

I have been "suspect" of those things all my life since I first heard of them. Telling people that the metal was safely locked up and you have paper. Every time I heard that the first thing that came to me was how many people are going to find out that paper is worthless.

I screwed myself when Trump won the election over Harris and gold/silver immediately started to fall in price.
I told my wife it's time to sell all my precious metals as it could only fall back to earlier levels.

I'm no expert but I'm not sure you can demand delivery of physical metal from an ETF. When you buy a share of an ETF you are buying a share of whatever they are holding, but I'd be surprised if that share entitled you to take actual delivery, anymore than buying a share of Disney would entitle you to demand delivery of a piece of the Matterhorn. A share of an ETF is not like a futures contract.

Love those monster boxes of silver American Eagles I bought in 2017. Except when I have had to move them, about 35 lbs per box. That's "heavy" for a guy my age. The price then for a box was just over $9,000; now they are $40,000, although there are not many buyers.
I finally bought lots of 1 oz gold American Eagles about 2 years ago when Costco had them for a little over $2,000..
This is what tees me off, my son tried to get me to buy BitCoins in 2012 like he did..

you are right, there are some precious metal etf's, like ishares, gabelli gold fund. my bad... but there are several precious metal stocks, that are supposed to be holding the same amount of physical gold and silver, that they sell to investors, yet are not doing so.

Yeah 2012 that would have been the time to buy the bitcoins! However at least have some solace that in 2025, silver has handily beaten the performance of bitcoin!

If I remember correctly, back about the 1970's or so, the Hunt brothers bought tons of silver at $2 an ounce to drive the price up. I think it hit about $50 and ounce before the market crashed. The news showed pictures of box cars on track sidings with the doors open and silver bars inside.
My last silver purchase was about 1995 at $5 and ounce. It's all just sitting in my safe. Just waiting for the "apocalypse."

Silver just keeps going up like crazy- up again this am to $76.52 as of this posting. At this point I worry it is just too fast, and that a major price correction may be coming. Of course, if that happens, I will be buying buying buying lol!
