Is that a Microtech Cipher? I have the Chinese clone and it's my everyday carry. Love it.

Thank you....Impressive!
Yeah..I get that. You know I bought this hatchet at Ace Hardware like 10 years ago. A few years ago I was tinting and treating a Telecaster guitar I built and thought..hrm..this stuff would look good on my hatchet handle. So I did it.Thank you....
I find that as Summer Break winds down...I get to being busy with projects and such.

Vikings did ya say…?Yeah..I get that. You know I bought this hatchet at Ace Hardware like 10 years ago. A few years ago I was tinting and treating a Telecaster guitar I built and thought..hrm..this stuff would look good on my hatchet handle. So I did it.
From there I decided to put a knife edge on it...with stones...then thought..well I gotta go full in and buy a proper leather protector. So I did.
I'm funny like that. The viking line in my blood comes out once in a while. turn a $20 hatchet into something..kinda cool.

A Viking style hand axe made from a rasp.
Handle is curly maple.
The book is The Vikings by Gwyn Jones.
An excellent read by the way.

I've been fascinated lately by the viking incursions of 800-1100AD into England and France.. It always surprises me when people say they're Scottish..or Irish..or Welsh..or English..Yeah...the fella who made that did a good job.

Ahhh yes....The Danelaw...and Normandy.....among many other areas.I've been fascinated lately by the viking incursions of 800-1100AD into England and France.. It always surprises me when people say they're Scottish..or Irish..or Welsh..or English..
And I think...well....not really. How far back in time you wanna go?
I just say I'm an American..no hyphen.
Especially effective against cavalry. As fascinating and cool as swords are….
Spears were the main weapon of most warriors of the so-called Dark Age.
This one is a Thrusting Spear.
For reference I am 6 foot even.
Very sharp edge and an ash shaft.

Reminds me of the guy who killed a baboon that was attacking villagers (can't recall where). He used a cold steel bushman. Love those things. $15 and can be used as a hatchet, spear, shovel, knife, and comes with a fire starter. As fascinating and cool as swords are….
