Get one of these, bolt .30-30 Savage 325, or a modern equivalent, RAR in 7.62X39. Similar ballistics and accuracy with pointy boolits.
The Savage is actually a tack driver with them. PAX

I have a 22 and I'm wanting something bigger. I do love Sig Sauer. Is your wife small? That's the biggest issue for me. Finding something that fits my body comfortably.
An easier transition to a more powerful rifle would be to match the action type, as close as is reasonable, to your .22.

What is your .22?

Measure your LOP. If not going with an adjustable stock like an AR, find something that fits your LOP.
If LOP is wrong, felt recoil is much worse, no matter what the cartridge.
Like @Andy54Hawken suggests, 308 is a an excellent start. If you aren't hunting Elk, I'd suggest 260 Rem or 6.5 Man Bun.

The Savage 325s are remarkably accurate for what budget rifles they were. I have one in 222 Rem. I recently acquired a Howa 1500 in 7.62x39 - a very soft shooter

I am a 5'2" woman looking for a powerful rifle for recreational shooting. What does everyone recommend?
I will hazard; you will get more reliable responses when you provide adequate information, rather than making a generic post. Normally, "powerful" and "recreational" do not apply to the general recreational shooter. Just saying! :s0155:

TTFs rifle sounds nice if you can still see gooder. Try to beat him down on the price. I put my 325 together for the ladies in our tribe. and of course there's always an SKS. PAX

You don't know want you don't know. I suspect the OP doesn't know, so assuming that is the case how is she to know what is "normal" or what to ask the first place?

What do you mean by "powerful"? A standard AR15 in .556 caliber is good. My wife has the Sig Sauer M400 Rose. She absolutely loves it.
A guy I know wanted me to install a Geissele trigger in his Sig M400 (it wasn't the Rose model) and got to say I was less than impressed. The pivot and takedown pins had to be beaten out and the come the find out the tumbler of the selector was not relief cut to allow the removal or installation of the trigger without removing the selector which was ambidextrous and roll pinned in place. So lame. I ended up telling him I needed my armorers box with the appropriate tools. That should not have been needed. He ended up taking it to a "gunsmith" who changed him $60, I laughed and told him he was a dumbass, but whatever.

Hmm, I don't know much about that, as haven't changed the triggers, but there was the original m400, then the V2, which is what the Rose is also. Wife has the Rose and i have the standard V2. There's also an upgraded version, XDI I think it's called. We both love ours all the way around.
