I am shopping for a Savage Mark ii, but there are too many options. I am planning to build a budget bolt action plinker. I am between the local Mark ii FV(heavy barrel) for $200, Mark ii FV SR (threaded barrel, nicer bolt handle) for about $270 after FFL and shipping, or a mark ii minimalist (wood stock and threaded barrel) for $300. But at that point a T1x starts looking very tempting. Also curious what people have paid to get a barrel threaded on a 22. (If I go the cheapest route and get a suppressor someday)

If anyone has any thoughts or seen any better deals let me know.

I have the FV that started life as the Swamp People model with the bull barrel and green gator stock that shot so so. It now lives in a Boyds stock and is also a tack driver with CCI 36 gr Mini Mags.

My buddy had the swamp people version that he got on a clearance sale- his had the beefier bolt and the threaded barrel. Unfortunately bimart only seems to carry the 93's and the minimalist these days.

I've been VERY disappointed with BiMart's 22lr rifle selection lately. Particularly the lack bolt actions and threaded barrels.

Having started down the suppressor route fairly recently, I don't think I would even buy a rimfire right now that wasn't threaded. I did pay to thread a heavy barreled 597 and very happy with the result but it was $125-150 and I had stripped everything down myself.

Rimfire suppressors are the most fun I think!

Bimart has had great deals on ammo, but hasn't had competitive pricing or selection in their 22's recently. I just bought the mark ii fv (with the heavy barrel) at Coastal. (They also had a tikka t1x) Someday I'll either get the barrel threaded or buy another - lol.

What suppressor did you end up selecting? I was considering Otter Creek Labs, but I haven't had the chance to try any yet.

The first one I actually chose was a YHM Phantom, second was a Banish 22. I started with the tiny Banish 22k which was 'free' on a promotion when I purchased a .223 can.

I bought a FVT heavy barrel target sight.

I then slightly modified a Boyd's stock and made this:

How do you like the csspec mags? Been meaning to grab a few, but keep stumbling on factory mags for cheap...
A lot. I will say imo, the incompatibility is overstated by csspecs. I tried a bunch of ammo they said was incompatible because of course that was in the truck. It worked just fine.

Thanks...I bought some if their Saiga 308 mags eons ago and was impressed with the quality, only recently learned they were doing Savage .22 mags.
