An easier transition to a more powerful rifle would be to match the action type, as close as is reasonable, to your .22.I have a 22 and I'm wanting something bigger. I do love Sig Sauer. Is your wife small? That's the biggest issue for me. Finding something that fits my body comfortably.
Depends what are you expecting to shoot with it? There are caliber restrictions for certain game. Or is this for 2 legged critters. So many memes! I am a small human so I'm looking for recommendations based on that info.
I agree. Quality rifle and often comes with a red dot opticWhat do you mean by "powerful"? A standard AR15 in .556 caliber is good. My wife has the Sig Sauer M400 Rose. She absolutely loves it.
You did see where she said she was a 5'2" woman who wants to step up from her .22, right? LOLGA Precision 338 Lapua.
The Savage 325s are remarkably accurate for what budget rifles they were. I have one in 222 Rem. I recently acquired a Howa 1500 in 7.62x39 - a very soft shooterGet one of these, bolt .30-30 Savage 325, or a modern equivalent, RAR in 7.62X39. Similar ballistics and accuracy with pointy boolits.
The Savage is actually a tack driver with them. PAX

I hope I never stumble on one for sale. I don't NEED another 7.62x39!I recently acquired a Howa 1500 in 7.62x39 - a very soft shooter
I will hazard; you will get more reliable responses when you provide adequate information, rather than making a generic post. Normally, "powerful" and "recreational" do not apply to the general recreational shooter. Just saying!I am a 5'2" woman looking for a powerful rifle for recreational shooting. What does everyone recommend?

That's a step up from a 22. She failed to mention the size of step. You did see where she said she was a 5'2" woman who wants to step up from her .22, right? LOL

Your budget will dictate that. If you're looking for something intended for self defense as well as recreational shooting, I'd suggest a descent quality AR with a light weight 16" barrel.I am a 5'2" woman looking for a powerful rifle for recreational shooting. What does everyone recommend?
You don't know want you don't know. I suspect the OP doesn't know, so assuming that is the case how is she to know what is "normal" or what to ask the first place?I will hazard; you will get more reliable responses when you provide adequate information, rather than making a generic post. Normally, "powerful" and "recreational" do not apply to the general recreational shooter. Just saying!![]()
A guy I know wanted me to install a Geissele trigger in his Sig M400 (it wasn't the Rose model) and got to say I was less than impressed. The pivot and takedown pins had to be beaten out and the come the find out the tumbler of the selector was not relief cut to allow the removal or installation of the trigger without removing the selector which was ambidextrous and roll pinned in place. So lame. I ended up telling him I needed my armorers box with the appropriate tools. That should not have been needed. He ended up taking it to a "gunsmith" who changed him $60, I laughed and told him he was a dumbass, but whatever. What do you mean by "powerful"? A standard AR15 in .556 caliber is good.
