Quick duck duck go search yielded these in stock, albeit pricey, but available and no solder needed. And I seriously doubt the solder would hold up, Sounds risky, YMMV

Does your local range not allow SBRs on the "rifle only" range? I would have thought the only requirement there would be a stock, not barrel length.

Good question. I am not interested in paying for a tax stamp, especially for a project like this one. If I ever do decide to pay for a tax stamp (not likely) it will be for a suppressor.
