Recoil is spunky, to be sure. However, it is a big, heavy, gas-operated shotgun, so it isn't all that nasty.

My Weatherby SA-08 12ga. x 3" It has run FLAWLESSLY from day one. It came all matte black, so I did the camo "shrink-wrap" appliqué on it myself (BTW- you'd be hard pressed to find the seams) that can be removed if it ever gets damaged or I get tired of it. It's awesome to shoot & it tracks very nicely... many ducks have fallen to it's fury.

I bought it NIB from Bi-Mart for $389 about 3yrs (or so) ago.

I love the tactical look in the bottom pic. That is the Remington?

Yes the bottom pic is the Remington. When I bought the shotgun it was spray painted and the wood was in terrible shape. I've added a +2 extension, 2 piece carrier, the synthetic furniture, and the whole gun has been finished with Cerakote. I'm hoping to repair, refinish the wood and install a XS Big Dot soon.

Not if it is a semi-auto shotgun. The difference in felt recoil between a semiauto, and a pump or a double barrelled shotgun, is significant.
