http://www.usatoday.com/story/money/business/2014/06/02/seattle-minimum-wage-vote/9863061/

The plan, which includes a lower training wage aimed at teenagers, will phase in the higher, local minimum over three to seven years, depending on the size of the business and benefits they provide employees. Next April 1, when the plan takes effect, every worker will get at least a $1-an-hour raise.

This is BS, not just the min wage, but the way they are going to do it, size of business and benefits over 7 years.

If you are going to do , DO IT, don't screw around with it.

I'm assuming that means all the minimum wagers. The ones that have stuck it out, worked hard and are making a few bucks over will get the shaft. Great incentive program!
Just another step towards Socialism.

For they passed a noble law
And the trees are all kept equal

In big cities showing up for work most of the time now constitutes skilled labor. No more metal, wood, or auto shops in schools = no more industrial skills. My High School used to have a course where students built a home every year. The school sold the house to pay for the program. It worked well, but when they moved into a shiny new facility years ago the program got dropped. Math and science have been dumbed down to the lowest common denominator to the point where virtually all first year college students take what were considered remedial courses a few decades ago.

What students do get is an education in entitlement and self esteem. Why invest in yourself to make a higher wage when you in fact deserve it by your very existence? And throw in an extra helping of free healthcare others have to pay for and a house while you are at it. I'm WAITING....

Robotic hamburger flippers are just around the corner for that too I'll bet.

's true. A buddy of mine is working out the automated process for getting foreign materials "accidentally" added for customers who order too many customizations through the touchscreen.

Way to make the middle class poorer Seattle!

People making a $15 minimum wage still won't be able to afford the $7-8 price milk will cost.

Uuuhhhh wats a denomonator? :D

Why stop at $15? Since they have no clue of basic economics and are using other people's money, why not make it $50/hour?? The results would be the same.

Yeah, why should people actually be able to live on what they make, this will disturb the existing delusion of this class of employment, while destroying the need for government to supply food, health care, child services, and education. Yeah, this existing system is much better, why I bet the extra costs of this new way of dealing with the minimum wage will only save us about 40%, and it isn't worth it because it will cost us 25 cents more on a Big Mac.

Got no problem with that, as long you get off your azz and earn it. These type of jobs are not meant to be living wage jobs. These jobs are meant for kids and younger adults getting started and the ones that lack a IQ score or the will power to advance themselves. If you want to earn more great, advance yourself, don't stand around with your hand out.

Here is what these jobs are for if you are older then 35

Well said.

Oddly enough, if you get off that azz you won't have to worry about minimum wage. I haven't worked minimum wage since high school because it sucked so much I invested in myself and got better jobs. Minimum wage is your employer telling you that if he could pay you less he or she would. Raising the minimum wage always causes inflation that negates the advantage in a short period of time and effectively results in decreasing the wages of the middle class.
