Brooklyn school allows Santa Claus decorations to return after principal caused outrage by trying to ban Jolly Old St Nick
  • Principal Eujin Jaela Kim, 33, of PS 169 in Brooklyn had outlawed angels, Santa and stars in decorations so as to be 'sensitive to diversity'
  • New York City Department of Education prohibits displays that 'depict images of deities, religious figures or religious texts'
  • Santa Claus has been designated an 'religious figure' by staff in the primary school, though education officials said he is secular and allowed
  • PS 169 will also reinstate school-wide Pledge of Allegiance after complaints that the practice disappeared when Kim became principal
