If you get a light weight safe consider some camouflage - wrap it in easily removed duct work or even a behind fake wall panel if your closet accommodates.

Pretty good video on safe construction and how criminals defeat them:

"All safes have purposes, there is a purpose for a $500 safe, there is a purpose for a $10,000 safe. Make sure you measure what your going to put inside with what you are going to spend."

When my 8 guns I have cost about 3,000 - since I am not putting in 20,000 - 30,000 worth of stuff that insurance wouldn't cover; maybe I should just spend $100.00 on a simple cabinet. My insurance would cover the cost of my firearms..

This guy might have just convinced me that if I am not buying a $1,000 safe that I can bolt down - doesn't seem like its worth spending $500....... might as well get a security cabinet then.

Its not like I have kids.

Put one in. Don't damage rental and get insurance. Never bothered me and nobody ever asked.
