(Final Price Reduction) I am selling my pristine S&W 686-6 7 shot .357 magnum revolver with 2 1/2" barrel and round butt.
This one has the safety lock and comes with a new set of Altamont grips, factory case, papers and a couple of speed loaders.
I am asking $650 cash. Absolutely no trades or lowball offers.
I am willing to split the cost of the background check and transfer fee. DSCN1284[1].JPG DSCN1283[1].JPG

Brad, Maybe it's just an asthetic preference. It's very subjective and personal not based on any objective criteria of the value or usefulness of the gun. In looking at the ads here on NWFA for 686s in 6 inch, 4 inch , 3inch, and 2 &1/2 inch, I find I like them all a lot, the 686 platform is my favorite for a .357/.38 spl, it's rock solid; but the one I like best is the 3 inch. Objectively this one (2 1/2 inch), would be the best choice for concealed carry. (There is a negligible difference in muzzle velocity and sight radius with that extra 1/2 inch. It shouldn't make a difference. ) A 4 inch would be best for a duty weapon, the 6 inch would be best for hunting. By any of those "objective" criteria the 3 inch that I like best, isn't the best choice.. However, sometimes I just look at it and think it just looks right to me and I want it. (It's not rational, it's Gun porn:D) Many others might just as easily prefer this one for their own equally valid reasons. Thankfully, that is why they make more than one kind. To be clear, I'm not putting this gun down at all or detering anyone else from buying it because of barrel length. That is my hang up, and my only reason that I am not buying this. I think this is a great, beautiful gun at an amazing price. If I had unlimited money I'd happily get one of each barrel length. Sadly for me :( I can't do that. Whoever buys this one should be very happy :)indeed. I hope that clarifies my comment.

Why does the extra half inch make that great of a difference? Just curious.
I have a 2.5" 686 plus that's about 10 years old and its one of the most accurate revolvers I have owned but my 3" 19-7 is way easier to eject empty shells out of because it has a full length ejector rod. And that my friend is the big advantage the 3" 686 has. Still not a terrible thing to have to pick a few empties out. Just remember to always eject out the shells in any revolver with muzzle pointing up so un burnt powder doesn't get under the ejector star and bind the gun up.
