Is the stock original as imported? Or refinished or new commercial stock? I'm just used to these being amber shellac finished. What was the importing company? (pw, century, ...)

What are the only 2 manufactures of the M44 ? I am just curious

Tula and Izhevsk for Soviet production which was from 1943-1948 (if not later), with the only other major USSR rifle-maker of the time, Kovrov, mainly doing SMG's of the PPD and PPS variety, MG's, and the odd SVT-40 Tokarev in the "Great Patriotic War." Then there was the myriad East Bloc "satellite nation" Warsaw Pact manufacture - accepting, of course, that China was never part of the last either before or after the intra-Communist "Amur Divorce" of the "Sino-Soviet Split" either before or after 1956. Radom (or "Factory 11") for Poland, Arsenal 26 (or the Jianshe Machinery Factory) for the Chinese manufacturer of the Type 53, Femaru for Hungary, Cugir for Romania. East Germany and Czecho used M44's but never built any at the former's "Ernst Thaelmann Works" (formerly a WW1 and WWII feeder plant of the "Simson" Company) or at the latter East Bloc nation's Czechoslovenska Zbrojovka Brno, Strakonice, or Uhersky Brod manufactories, as far as information available today would tell us.
