Just installed one of these - turns your 10/22 into a bolt gun for sub sonic
comes with a light recoil spring
by indexing the lock open, you can still fire semi auto, but only with sub sonic or standard velocity ammo
I can only say, works as advertised
I have 3 brands of sub sonic .22 ammo - sounds like an air rifle

a member once asked me if I change springs in my 10/22 when I change ammo
well - not really - I have three 10/22, one with light spring and this bolt lock for sub sonic ammo
one with Kidd standard spring for standard velocity
one with Kidd heavy spring for Mini Mags
Kidd triggers in all three

I would recommend this bolt lock only if your building a dedicated sub sonic 10/22

now I know, someone is going say "why not just buy a .22 bolt gun"
have one - a Remington Nylon, but I prefer the Ruger 10/22
spent $900 building a Tony Kidd 10/22 that will put 10 rnds in a single hole at 50 yrds

Yeah, you can beat a Kidd heavy Barrel.
when I first built the Tony Kidd 10/22, I asked my son to test it, gave him a box of Eley match sub sonic 40gn ammo - 50 rnds
set up at 50 yrds on our range - prone off the mat, no rest
he came back in 10 min later - said "I'M GOOD"
he gave me his target - one elongated hole in it
I asked him how many rounds he fired - says he "3 mags" on a 10/22, you know that's 30 rnds

Yeah, ELEY is the Ticket! Crazy Accurate! But I gotta admit Browning is the Magic on Sage Rats, something like 1600 fps. :)

ran this through the bolt lock 10/22 today
the bullet hitting the dirt 30 yrds away made more noise the the rifle firing
good for shooting cans and paper, will ring steel, but doesn't move the swinging targets

what is the reason for the light recoil spring since its designed to lock the bolt closed?

if you want to shoot semi auto, you can latch the lock open and it cycles like a normal 10/22
yes, but with normal power 22lr? Or just subsonic/"quiet" rounds?

They don't even list it as a light spring on their website so Im just trying to figure out what will work with it installed.

understand, there is hearing safe and REALLY QUIET.
in semi auto, the bolt alone register about 115 db, still hearing quiet
with the bolt locked it's Hollywood silencer quiet
now 30 yards out, you don't even hear the bolt cycle, just a local noise from the shooters aspect
with the CCI quiet 22 and the bolt locked - it's freaky quiet

it works with normal power .22LR in semi auto
it also works in semi with 1050 fps sub sonic
with the quiet .22, the bolt opens partialy, I can see the bolt handle move, but not cycle

let me know if you want me to test any specific rounds
have Remington standard,CCI standard, Armsco standard
Aquilla subsonic (1050) CCI subsonic (1050)
CCI quiet (750)

Thats how I understand it all, noise wise. If it cycles standard 22lr semi auto fine this seems like a great upgrade to shoot quiet or subsonic ammo - freaky quiet without a suppressor. I'm 'this' close to impulse buying one....

I have an assortment of the usual standard 22rl ammo, Federal, Blazer, Remington golden and thunderbolt, CCI mini mags etc. I would have to order some of these CCI Quiet rounds which I don't mind getting some. I don't think you need to test anything, as long as the usual standard ammo runs with this installed Id just leave it installed. I had a 22cal piston air rifle that I got rid of that this could potentially replace its role, as long as the "quiet" loads are accurate enough?

it's freeky quiet with the CCI quiet ammo with the bolt locked
with 1050 sub sonic you do get some muzzle noise, but nothing you can hear down range
and I have the short 16" bbl

I don't have a suppressor so probably wouldn't try those, I just want something to fill the role of the air rifle. I feel like I should have known about these CCI "quiet" loads or I woulda tried them already. Maybe I should see how they group before I buy the Colossic bolt lock.... or just buy it as it sounds useful anyways!

I only learned of them last year, and i shoot a lot of 22LR
it only came out in late 2019

we have an old Remington Nylon Bolt in .22LR with a 20" bbl
all you hear is the firing pin fall with this CCI quiet ammo
Im trying to decide between the standard and the low profile version. The low profile version comes with its own charging handle. Does the standard version clamp onto the stock charging handle? Like with a set screw?
