Is the stock actual real black walnut, or is it walnut stained Birch wood like Ruger uses on most of thier wood stocked guns today? As best I can tell by looking at the the wood grain in the pics, the stock looks like stained birch wood.

I don't know about black walnut or stained birch. but according to ruger this model is solid "French Walnut" whatever that means.
