at her home in Portland, Oregon.

One of the most beloved and admired writers of her genre from the late middle of the 20th century, her writings combined wizards and warlocks, racial equality, minority ethnicism, alternative sexuality, future histories and brilliant inventiveness - often in just one book.

She was my favorite author, bar none, and reading her future history of what may or may not have been California is a treat that I can repeat at least once a year. 'Always coming home' is the name, for those who would like to know.

Miss LeGuin, thank you, thank you, thank you.

Read a few of her books as kid...sure beats the pants off the much of the reading material that is out there nowadays.
