Fixed stock is usually go to, maybe a magpul PRS or similar. Can be done with adjustable stocks too, more of a personal decision IMHO.
Agree with fixed stock for accuracy. But they are so heavy. If you're hiking with it at all, I would find a lightweight option. If you're going for just a precision shooter off a bench, the PRS is a marvelous choice. They are made to fit both rifle and carbine length. I personally prefer carbine length as there seems to be more variety in carbine length buffers. But either are a good option.

So as a thank you to all that responded to my initial post, and even those that responded to something else :s0114:, a little gun porn to start the day:

"Build" list is as planned:

BCA 20" SS heavy barrel 6.5 Grendel side charger upper with 15" M-LOK hand guard.
Aero Precision M4E1 complete lower less stock.
Bravo Company SOPMOD something or other stock, they go a little overboard with their "tactical" names of stuff . That said, I like the stock, I used a Magpul ACS-L on my last AR, very similar features but I think this one is executed a little bit better, and at about the same price.
Sig Romeo7 2 MOA RDS.

Bit of a chunky monkey, it tips the scale at 9 lbs. 4.5 oz. and, no surprise, is decidedly muzzle heavy. Quite pleased with all the parts and pieces, the barrel needed some attention right away, there was a hell of a burr at the gas port, but some serious scrubbing seems to have taken care of most of it, a few rounds down the barrel should clean up the rest. Looks pretty good through the bore scope now.

Action was a bit stiff and rough too, but again, cleaning and lube made a major difference. I think I'm going to like the side charger, feels similar to my Mini 14, and I never did have any use for forward assists and dust covers. Now I just need to cycle that action a couple of hundred times, and figure out a way to polish the feed ramps, they're chewing up my bullets a bit.

No issues with the lower at all, and for a mil-spec trigger, I'm quite happy with it as is. The RDS is probably temporary, and will get replaced with a scope down the road, but for now, I was looking to get a functional rifle as quickly and inexpensively as possible. I'd say I did okay, not counting the optic, I'm well under the $600 mark, which is about what I was into my first AR "build", a very basic PSA/Del-Ton M4gery. Added bonus, the color between the various assemblies all match, it looks like it all came off the same production line . Looking forward to my first range session, but I don't think it's going to happen today. Later, and thanks again, guys.
