You probably know my older brother then- all four of us kids went to THS back in those years!I am Class of 90. Probably missed you by a couple years. Go Tigers!
Might have had a different name but we knew it as Kim Leng, the names of the two women who owned it. On S Commercial, next to where Windjammers is. It closed down in the late 90's. For the 3-4 years it was open, the place was always packed at lunch.Kim Leng in Salem? Never heard of it. Different name maybe?
I learned them in the berry fields. A long, long time ago from the same sources.Ha- I used to work at the one in Tigard way back in the day when in high school. It's where I learned all the best cuss words in Spanish from my coworkers ;-)

I do miss those Chicken and Dumplings. Was a great meal and and have fond memories of going to Grandmas Table. Not sure if Grandmas table in Beaverton has been mentioned? We went there for their Chicken and Dumplings. Very tasty and filling.
I remember going to Shari's as a kid and there being smoking and non-smoking sections. I was explaining that to my nieces and nephews the other day and they were dumbfounded by the idea of smoking inside a restaurant. I think they stopped allowing smoking indoors in like 2004? Maybe someone older than me remembers exactly when Oregon banned it.Not sure if this has been touched on yet, but Shari's. I've been deployed to the Middle East since late last year, and since then, Shari's has gone under. I have many fond memories of that chain…
I checked, seems there's still over 200 locations in the US. All in WA are closed (no surprise, eh?) And when we went to Florida the one near our hotel had just closed. Shanghai Hooters closed permanently during the pandemic, but we did get to visit the one in Cancun last year, and it wasn't very busy. Not totally gone, mostly gone. We had 2 in the Seattle area, they closed 15 years or so ago.
I believe that the majority have closed
The one in Orchards by Fred Meyer is still open. Not sure if this has been touched on yet, but Shari's. I've been deployed to the Middle East since late last year, and since then, Shari's has gone under. I have many fond memories of that chain…
