I carry a full sized gun; it's supposed to be comforting not comfortable.

Glock 19 and be done.
Yes, but it's still important that it's comfortable enough for you to be able grab it, present it, aim it, operate safety, and shoot - without looking at it.

Find myself in a similar situation. After nearly 40 years of concealed carry (can't believe it's been that long), I've gone through carrying Hi-Powers, 1911's, assorted K- frame revolvers, G19, Sig P229/M11, Sig P365 and have found myself pocket carrying a J-frame 642. That never gets left behind.

One has to evaluate their real needs for the circles and circumstances they travel in on a daily basis. And for me, small pocket revolver with a few reloads does the trick. Requires practice to master, but all arms do.
What pocket holster did you settle on for the J-frame?

DeSantis Nemesis Pocket Holster. Makes it disappear in the pocket and stays in the pocket when I draw. It's a constant companion.
