The Arex Zero for 599 with optic cut and threaded barrel looks awesome
Yea I have that one and it's a superb gun imo. These are my very first shots having never fired it before. Very suppressor friendly. Large grip size like p226.

Does the 226 bore axis feel funky with it being so high though? Does the gun jump around significantly more than a striker fired or 1911?
I never thought my P226 shot funky due to the higher bore axis, but I have owned multiple Sig hammer fired guns. The first pistol I ever purchased was a P220 (I regret selling it). That being said I have a friend who dislikes the Sig hammer fired pistols for that very reason.

I carried Glock 22s and a Glock 17 for work for 20+ years and never had any issues switching between the Glock or any other brand of pistol when shooting.

I will say my Beretta seems like it shoots flatter than my P226. I could be imagining it.

I would recommend trying to shoot an example of the pistol you are interested in before you buy it. By doing that I would have saved myself a lot of money.

All that being said my favorite type of pistol is a 1911. 😁

In your mind, what makes the Beretta the best of the bunch?
The slide feels like it's on ball-bearings when you rack it. The trigger is smooth with no perceptible rough spots.

Keep in mind, mine is an OG 92F made in Italy back in '87, I've never shot a recent manufacture USA made one, although I'm sure the (commercial) QC is still generally on par with the motherland factory.

Same - but I am in the middle of nowhere with no way to try before buy unfortunately haha. Which is why I started the thread, trying to learn through others.

Does the high-bore axis of the 226 make it funky to shoot compared to the lower bore axis of the CZ?
The only place I've read about the high bore axis is by folks on the internet that've never owned one.;)

My 226's and 220's are sweethearts to shoot. I'm glad I never read the high bore memo.:D

Not all of these are on your list but are my favorite DA/SA...

- SIG 229
- SIG M11-A1
- CZ PO-1
- CZ SP-01

If you were to consider .45 Cal...

SIG 227

Got them all.

Best of luck on your search!

I've owned them all and still own all but the Beretta. Liked the Beretta, just was odd man out since I had multiple Sig, CZ, and HK.

Something to note on the CZ75B is that it doesn't have a decocker unless you get a different version (CZ75BD). I have CZ with the manual safety and the decocker. Most of them have taken trips to CZ Custom for a trigger/action job. The manual safety versions have a slight edge on the decocker versions in terms of trigger crispness. But they're all great.

If you want a "classic" DA/SA I'd go with a Sig P226 or a Beretta 92 (Italian made). With a slight edge in preference for the P226 just due to the decocker lever location.

If you still want a decocker in a CZ I'd recommend the CZ 75 SP-01 Tactical. It's a more modern gun design-wise than the P226 or Beretta 92, but not nearly as pretty in terms of finish. Great shooter though with the heavy steel frame.

My West German Sig 228 has been my go to gun since about '93, the only other gun I would consider would be one of the offerings from Grand Power. For me that would be the GP P1S Mk 23.

Perfectly summarized. There is just something that feels better all around with the ones out of Italy; perhaps it's some special high grade olive oil they use as cutting fluid on their machines? 😆

I'm not a DA/SA guy, but if I were, the newly released model of the Shadow 2 would be at the top of my list.
