I also ordered some factory seconds small pistol and small rifle primers which are in still in limbo, not even a label printed yet. They sold out of both after my order was placed. Since then they have restocked both. I am going to wait until they sell out again and then ask for Winchester and Fiocchi primers as a substitute, if my factory seconds are not available to ship.

I hope this isn't the first hint of primer prices going back up! I was surprised (and thrilled) when they dropped to the $50 per thousand range.

Maybe the high wore off. The single sleeves are more than half off now, if you buy two or more sleeves. No hazmat but $10 shipping unless you buy $150+ worth of products.

Holy crap! I am following this thread cause I did NOT know how to game this system! I recently ordered some 165gr fusions and some brass. They emailed me to tell me that they ran out of fusions and asked if I wanted a sub for anything or a refund. I asked for the refund (assuming the rest of my order would still ship). They cancelled the entire order and refunded everything but still charged me the $2.99 protection. When I brought it to their attention they sent me a $25 gift card. If I can ask for a higher value item I am going to try that next time!

Their shipping has really taken a turn for the worse. The tracking codes will state that UPS has not received the package… until magically it appears on my door step. My last order of brass arrived in 2 shipments 3 or 4 weeks apart. I've been ordering from them since 2014 and they've always made things right eventually, but I'm alittle bummed with how often the mistakes are being made more recently.

@arakboss will you keep us updated with whether they let you sub the primers for something less? And the performance of the factory second primers?

Lastly, I am putting it on my calendar to wait to buy gift cards until cyber Monday… I think I did this last year where I bought mine for Black Friday… but then a better deal came out on Monday.

Last thing first. I made the above mistake as well. I bought some gift cards at 20% off. I then bought more when they increased the discount to 25%. It was the middle of the night when I bought two $500 gift cards at 25% off (two separate transactions) and they included a free $50 gift card with each of those two purchases. By the next morning that free $50 gift card with $500 purchase was no longer available. It was replaced with other free gift options like t-shirt, hat, MREs, etc.

They said they are going to ship a case of large rifle magnum primers as a substitute for $156 order of bullets they didn't have. I will post it here if I actually receive them.

Their shipping and inventory has been a disaster lately.

I order two cases of primers and two orders of bullets around Dec 5th. They provided one UPS tracking number for the entire order. I received the bullets yesterday but no primers. I sent them an email asking about the primers.

There are still excellent deals to be had there but buyer will have to be patient and persistent. Communication is slow but they usually get back to you.

I still have over $500 worth of gift card money to spend there but I am holding out for some 50% off powder or other really great deals. I also want to wait until all my other orders have been reconciled.

I sent three separate emails to american reloading today. In each one I requested tracking info for the three primer orders that are outstanding. In the first email, I politely expressed my frustration with the communication delays and the high frequency of my orders that have gone unfulfilled as ordered.

I have received almost all of the bullets I ordered since black Friday but none of the primers.

They have some serious work to do to get the ship straightened out.

I had one bad experience with them and swore them off for a few years. Next time I bought some primers and that went well. 3rd time I bought some Maxam powder for cheap that I have only seen sold by them and was thrilled.

I am questioning this myself. I am going to hold off until Christmas and see if they bump it up to a 25% discount again. I still have $530 of 32% off cards, I am waiting to spend.

I am hoping they will get a lot more powder in and discount it to 30, 40 or even 50% off. Combining the discount gift cards with great powder deal might net me some powder at close to $10 a pound.

I too am waiting for Christmas to see if we see 25% again. I unfortunately missed the 25% AND free $25 gift card... but if it were to present itself again I'd do it!
