American reloading failed again but came through again with higher dollar substitute item. I ordered a jug of powder and an order of 500 pulled 45 cal fmj bullets on October 30th. The bullets were on sale for $45. It turns out they oversold the 45 cal bullets and asked if there was another product I would like instead. I chose a 1000ct order of primed AAC 9mm brass. It took some time but it arrived and the brass looks fantastic. The price on the brass was more than double the price for the bullets and they didn't blink at sending that as a substitute.

They oversold a jug of powder I ordered recently and I requested two jugs of a different in stock powder as a substitute. Again they didn't blink. It takes time with correspondence but it's worth the effort.

If ordering from them be aware their inventory may not be perfectly accurate, especially when it shows one remaining. They do make a solid effort to make it right when it happens.

I'm glad they tried to make it right and you were satisfied with the result. I will share my experience.

First time ordering with them was this year. I ordered some projectiles a few months ago. Order went through July 9th, I received an email confirmation with tracking number. I got busy with life and assumed they would be delivered as is typically my experiences with other vendors. On August 29th, I sent them an email asking about the status of the order as I didn't see the projectiles in the mail, and the tracking info they sent showed the order never actually shipped out. My credit card was charged a the time of ordering.

In the nearly two months since placing the order I received no follow up contact (phone call or email) from them. After I emailed, they did respond September 3rd, apologizing that the order did not ship out as expected, and notifying the product is no longer available.

They offered a substitute a different product, send a refund, or issue an e-gift card. I took the refund as I wanted the item that I ordered, not some other stuff or credit toward a future purchase.

I placed a different order with them after the first one, but before discovering the issue with that initial order. The second one arrived. So 50/50 based on my limited experience.

It may be worth your effort to manage these type of issues dealing with a vendor. I will think twice in the future. I placed an order for something that I needed or at least wanted and intended to use and they charged me for the purchase. They didn't come through, which can happen at times. But they also didn't recognize that they weren't going to fulfill the order and let me know timely. I had to bring this to their attention. Had I not, it appears I would be out the money and the goods. I rarely have these sort of issues when dealing with other vendors, and the few times I have, they recognized the issue and resolved it timely on their end, and communicated with me promptly. I will continue supporting those other vendors.

It has gotten worse since they changed their website. Occasionally I will order something cheap from them that I kind of want but also kind of hope they don't have enough of. It has happened numerous times in the last year or so. It is most likely to happen if I wait until inventory shows one item remaining in stock.

I would recommend to others, that if they really need or want a particular item, that they look elsewhere.

American Reloading came through again.

I purchased some of their 25% off gift cards that also came with a free $50 gift card. That made the price for $550 worth of gift cards, $375. That's about a 32% discount, if my high school dropout math is good.

I proceeded to use one of the gift cards to buy a couple of cases of primers and a couple of batches of projectiles, totaling about $511. That would make my purchase eligible for another free $50 gift card and the $30 off BOGO discount on primers.
While attempting to checkout it would not let me use my purchased gift card, while the free $50 gift card was in my cart. It evidently did not include the $30 discount either.

After completing the checkout I emailed them and asked them to resolve the $80 ($50 gift card + $30 BOGO discount) I was shorted. They responded today and issued me the $50 gift card. They said the they were also going to refund $30 but it could take 10 days.

It was a bit of trouble and some risk on my part but they are making it right.

After all is said and done I will be getting these items, plus the $50 gift card, for roughly $356 out of pocket. Not a bad deal and definitely worth the bother for me. Edit: I also still have the free $50 gift card from the original 25% off gift card purchase.

AR failed again. I ordered six 250ct batches of Sierra .277 TGK bullets for $156. I used a 20% off discount gift card so out of pocket would have been $125.

Just got an email from them today that they don't have them. That is a major bummer because the price was amazing and the bullets looked nice and were well reviewed. They offered a refund or substitution. I chose substitution and asked for a 5000ct case of large rifle primers. We'll see if there is any resistance. The primers are going for $255.

What the hell are "Factory Second Primers"!? Sounds like a "B Grade Orthopedic Surgeon"? Hard pass!

I just placed an order for a case of small pistol and small rifle primers. Hope they work well. Out of pocket cost will be $222 shipped as I used 20% discount gift cards for this order.

I ordered the last three, 500ct batches of these 30-30 bullets. The way things have been lately, I am doubtful they will fill the order. I used 32% off discount gift cards to pay for the majority of it. If they oversold them I will ask for a 6000ct case of Fiocchi sp primers or factory 2nd mag lr primers as a substitute.

AR responded this morning and said the large rifle factory seconds are out of stock too and asked if there was anything else I would like as a substitute.

I responded that there are still 14 cases showing in stock on the website and that might explain why they are overselling so many products.

I told them I could make the large rifle magnums work instead. We'll see what they say.

Today half of my order of TGKs, that they supposedly didn't have, showed up. No shipping updates were provided. My request for a case of primers as a substitute now seems a little greedy.

They never mentioned that they had half of my order available and they haven't responded to my request for LR Mag primers as a substitute. I will give it another day or two before I send them another email.

I have two other primer orders and a 30-30 bullet order that are still in limbo. I am guessing they are busy from BF sales but their communication takes forever.

AR sent me another box of 40cal FMJ bullets under the same order for which I already received my bullets. Their shipping & receiving dept needs help. I will wait until all my other orders are resolved before asking if they want the extra box sent back. That place is a mess right now.

Finally heard back from AR and they said they will get "those" shipped out. Not sure what "those" will be, since I gave them four different options for the substitute item. My four choices were all cases of primers so no matter which of the four options ship, I will be getting primers.

Still waiting on my $30 refund from another order and some SR and SP primers that haven't even had a label printed yet. Those sold out fairly quickly so I won't be surprised if they oversold those too.

Looks like they are going to send me the factory seconds large rifle magnum primers. No tracking info so it will be a surprise when they show up.

I asked about my $30 refund from another order and they said it could take 10 business days. They can pull it from my bank acct in 10 business seconds but putting it back takes days. I never understood that.
