This is why I drive the way I do.
There was a fatal accident on 97 recently, near where I life. It was quickly discovered via Facebook that the guy live broadcast his last moments. He gave a sort of war cry as he turned head on into a semi in the oncoming lane. Thankfully the semi driver was not also killed. Not an accident after all.

Good thing I ain't a Samurai then..... :D

In any event....
I truly don't care what others do when they do things....for the most part.

Kinda like Old Blue Eyes...
I do things My Way....and ya know what....that works for me.

As for others...do as you wish.

Speaking only for myself here....

I have lived with concerns for my life and my property like those outlined in the OP.
I don't generally have those concerns nowadays however.

I go to the range to enjoy myself and whatever firearm / firearms I brought...
As well as to forget / not think about all the negatively out in the world today.
So ...I generally don't think about things like the OP.

That said...
I also am situationally aware , that seems to have been working for me.

In any event...the above are just my thoughts...and suit me....
No one else needs to do as I do.

Andy
I just saw @Andy54Hawken pull in the range parking lot .......

Don't need no stinkin sidearm ......

I always have my daily carry with me in a range setting. I'll shoot everything else first the run at least one mag or cylinder of carry ammo through. I have a reload ready and holster the recharged firearm.

Only time I lay out more than one gun is if someone is with me, If I'm alone in the woods shooting only the one I'm shooting along with the accessories are on the table, as my truck is always a just a few feet away it only takes a second to lock the active gun but not the accessories in the truck when I go mess with the targets. No, a locked truck isn't security from the determined, but it'll stop the rest. I always hade a 45 colt sidearm on my hip although not about to shoot anyone, or even their vehicle just for stuff unless their threating my life.
If only thieving, I may fire off a round shouting threats and hope my bluff encourages their exit. If i can encourage them to leave why would I want to risk stopping them by disabling their vehicle forcing them into more confrontation, or risk the legal ramifications sure to follow if reported.
luckily, over a long life time not encountered such. though I have I've encountered several loud mouth pretentious wannabe bullies driving around together and one drunk gutless jerk.

Made this video yesterday testing 158 grain Fiocchi in a STEN with a suppressor. Worked good but thats not what this post is about. I shoot at unsupervised public range and that Colt .357 on my hip is my range sidearm. I usually dont shoot it at the range but when Im testing stuff out Im normally at the range without anyone with me and as I go down range to put up targets etc I might have 40-50k worth of guns, silencers , machineguns etc sitting on the table with a parking lot 50 feet away and it just takes one jack@ss taking pot shots or doing a snatch and run. I try to keep an eye on it but you know. The Colt is there in case I need to use it.
