I went to the range today to sight in my deer rifles and play with some pistols. I had the IWLA range (where I'm a member) near Eugene all to myself this morning. It's about 10 minutes from my house.

The final group from my S&W 1500 .30-06. Note that the target is rotated clockwise 90 deg, so it's really shooting about an inch high at 100 yards. Should be dead on at 200 yards. Not bad at all.

If you disregard the .30 cal hole and go with the 3 .223 holes nearest the quarter, this is not a bad final group out of a Ruger American 5.56 with a 16" barrel.

Then I visited the pistol range. 7 yards, rapid fire, Remington R1S, .45 acp.

range - 10.jpg

Same pistol, rapid fire, 50 feet.

Don't know why there's an extra photo here, but oh well.

Nice range, man it would be nice to have something like that so close to home!!
Nice shooting too :)

Last Spring I re-stocked the S&W 1500. The old walnut stock was beautiful, but it needed to be pillar bedded, and while researching parts to do that I stumbled across a Hogue pillared stock with a full aluminum backbone for relatively cheap, so I jumped on it. Today's groupings look like the Hogue stock is doing its job.
