This is idea has been mentioned a number of times on InRangeTV, including in the April Q&A. Sounds like an interesting concept, though I'm personally pretty old school when it comes to sighting systems (e.g., quality irons or, rarely, good quality scope).

Thoughts on the concept? Where it will go? Worth the bother?

I saw something on a recent Sig machine gun that was along those lines. It was for a military contract bid. I highly doubt it would go anywhere in the civilian market until massively accepted across all platforms by the military.
