Looking to piece together an ar9 pistol. Pretty uninitiated to them. Advice on preferred spring and buffer? Can I use a KAK shockwave that I already own? Preferred lowers? So many questions.
Best thus far has been my CMMG, factory built however. It's not a typical AR9 recoil system though. You can buy their kits now to build on anyone's upper, you'll have to remove the ejector in most lowers though. I use a plain old carbine spring and a H2 buffer with it. Shoots very smooth.
My most recent attempt at a traditional AR9, I'm using a Taccom BCG and a 7.5 ounce extended 9mm buffer with a carbine spring. I'm pretty sure I'm short stroking right now as my last round hold open is not engaging. It shoots really fast, but it does has noticeably more recoil than the CMMG. Probably because the guns weighs nothing.
Their are tons of great lowers out there. Price and features vary. My most recent was a Foxtrot Mike lower with a really nice last round bolt hold feature. New Frontier sells theirs for a really good price as does Palmetto State.
