Hello all,

I have a 9 inch barreled 300 blk out and am running into issues. Its always had a bit of a gas issue but now with an adjustable gas block on it locks back on last round everytime. Issue is the charging handle moves backwards each time i fire... what gives?

If you have a standard charging handle make sure that it is fully latched when your charge your firearm. If it is not latching you need to check that mechanism.

The charging handle does not lock the bolt back; it may be a problem but it's not the problem, my guess would be your under gassed. and the bolt is hanging up on the mag not the bolt stop.

Ok so to update, i adjusted the gas block to where it locks back each time i fire with a mag in last round. But the charging handle comes back and hits me in the nose still. I mean leaves the fire arm abd travels, punches me in the nose, and heads back. Chatgot said a new spring and buffer weight would do it so imma start there. I was being dumb as well trying to have it lock back with no magazine in it... like an ape.

Before you change anything do as @msgriff recommended. Check the latch recess on the upper receiver for wear or damage. If that is not damaged a new latch spring is far cheaper than messing with the buffer, which I doubt is the problem in the first place a d in the second place may mess with the functioning of the rifle.

Thanks you guys. Will look at this and update when fix is implemented. That makes sense theory of operation wise. Just needs some grip training 🤣

Chat GPT doesn't know anything about guns. The buffer system isn't the problem. You need to check the charging handle latch and latch recess.

While you are inspecting the rifle look at the latch itself. There should be a squared off engagement surface. If that is damaged it can cause your charging handle to unlatched during firing.

This is rare as the latch is steel and it engages with an aluminum receiver. If there is damage at this engagement interface, it is almost always the softer aluminum that takes the hit.

This is a common problem... The charging handle is out of spec. I had a couple Radical charging handles that did that. You rack 'em back and they don't lock into place on the upper. File down the lever where the claw locks into the upper with a diamond file or just do the coarse, medium, fine thing... Refinish it with some high temp ceramic spray paint. Then hit it with a torch a few times to bake on the finish. Heat it, let cool, heat it, let cool,..do that 3 times.

long shot but what upper are you using, might be a a certain type charging handle is needed, for example a SIG 716I can only use sig and 1 other brand that would work
