For the busy people:

Greetings from Central Oregon. Stumbled on to these forums while looking for what my wife terms "gun porn" on the Google machine... :s0114:

The only other critical thing you need to know about me is that I love beer...

For the nosey people:

The real name is Troy. I live in Central Oregon (small town Pop 950 +/-). I keep the wolf away from the door with my job as a CAD/CAI Engineer for a company that makes titanium castings. We are very deep into aerospace components but also make a lot of medical implants. Some of you geezers on here should be about due for one of our hip replacement units...

I have been married to Missus Chugger(Veronica) for 24-1/2 years now. IMO, She's the best wife & mother on the planet and that is truly not up for debate. She keeps herself busy as the Avon Lady of the area. I get to help make deliveries for her and am known as the Avon Stud at the local beauty salons and quilting clubs. I nearly lost her to cancer (lymphoma) a few years ago. Being the tough nutt she is, she beat it back and has been in remission for 2 years now. Scared me though. I am useless on my own and need her.

One of our early marriage hickey-making sessions somehow produced our only son, Alex. He's moved away to the big city for college, has since graduated and now is an Engineer guy like his old man. He's engaged to be married this summer to his longtime GF. She just graduated nursing school and is working as a labor nurse in a large hospital in Salem Oregon. I miss my son, but am one proud Pop.

I love to hunt and fish and am probably the best on the planet at these activities. Killing and/or catching my quarry, well, I'm not so hot at  I also love to stay active. I work out twice per day ( lift and run before work & run at lunchtime). I was born with the get fat gene, so I have to do this. I had 240 pounds on my 170 pound frame at one point in my life and I ain't going there again.

I am a Conservative and make no apologies for it. I love my country, complain about my taxes, shake my head when I see a kid with seven rings in his pierced lip, and can't get into most pop culture. The libertarian in me says that I need to mind my own business, let people live their lives and I don't pass judgement on others. Just don't hurt anyone or ask for me to pay for your "program" and we'll get along fine in this world.

Other stuff? I love to watch my favorite teams (Seahawks, Blazers, Mariners) disappoint me every year, but I wear their colors proudly. I am a crappy golfer, but try to get out a few times per month. I enjoy my PC and have built it myself. I enjoy online games (CounterStrike) and play whenever I get the chance. I attempt to keep things in life lighthearted and will probably let some of that leek out in my online time here in these forums.

I am really going to love the classifieds section of these boards and will probably get into the WTT or WTB mix. I have many hunting type rifles and shotguns, but am looking at picking up a few semi-auto "battle" type rifles. Not sure if it will be AR, AK or SKS yet, but it will be something from that group. I'll also be looking for CC holster info as I just got my Oregon CCW license and my Utah license is still pending.

Okay I'm done. (omg, I think I now have Carpal Tunnel)

:drink: Welcome to the forum. I was a Central Oregon resident for seventeen years growing up. I now live on the Oregon coast and make my living building evil black rifles. I really can't complain since I get to do what I love and get paid for it. If you're ever on the coast, PM me and we'll go get a beer. BTW, you have to hit up Deschute's Brewry if you haven't already. That's still my pub and always will be. My favorite beer they produce is Black Butte Porter, closely followed by Cinder Cone Red and Obsidian Stout.

Welcome to the forum Chugger.

Glad to hear Mrs. Chugger is in remission. My wife of 29 years is currently undergoing chemo for the lymphoma...the tumors have dissapeared...we await a catscan next week to make sure the internal ones are also gone.
God I love her so.

My youngest son is Alex, in the Army Special Forces, based at Fort Bragg.

So much for similarities...I'm an out-there free thinker. Could probably be labelled a lib, if such a moniker has any real definition today... I don't agree with much that the past or current admins have to say. Oh, and don't care much for televised sports.

I own my fair share of guns and ammo and require good forums like this one to help me make informed decisions...and for that I am grateful.

Again, welcome,
Will

Thanks for the welcome all.

Taurus: Deschutes makes some mighty fine brews but I HATE their brew-pub in downtown Bend, Tourist trap. I prefer SilverMoon, 10 barrell and Bend Brewings little pubs. They still have a Central Oregon feel (ie: If I head-butt a Californian, most of the patrons will point and laugh at the knot on his head...). You can betcha I'll PM you on vacation this summer

Swoop: Not sure what I'll start packing. I have a Taurus 24/7 Pro in a 40s&w, but that may be a bit bulky. I plan on getting a small frame 40 and have that be my daily carry. Wifey has a 380 that may end up in my britches until I get a new packer.

Willseeker: You may find that your free thinking ways are very much in line with my Libertarian stances. The best things is that places like these boards bring all walks of life together. I will say a prayer for you & your wife. I know exactly what you folks are going through. My hopes are for a speedy therapy and remission prognosis.

Also, please convey my thanks to your son for his Service. Volunteerism at it's most noble form. :s0155:

Glad to have you aboard Chugger. Yes, I would venture to say that we all have more in common than might be expected. We come from all walks of experience here. I respect everyones opinions...even though I may not agree.

Thanks for your courteous salute to my son, I'm very proud of him and all his brothers and sisters that serve our country.

Regards,
Will
