I didn't know "doona" was a foreign term.
My Mom, who was never out of the U S used it all the time . . . As in "Doona do that again or I'll use the pancake turner on you!"

Blah blah blah.

Here is a Japanese type poem I wrote in the 6th grade ... I only got a C+. Oh well. :)

"Unnoticed ... The Dead Leaf Flutters Down ... Scurrying From Coming Snow".

Somebody killed a policeman today and a part of America died.
A piece of our country he swore to protect will be buried with him at his side.
The suspect that shot him will stand up in court, with counsel demanding his rights.
While a young windowed mother must work for her kids and spend many long lonely night.
The beat that he walked was a battlefield too, just as if he had gone off to war.
Though the flag of our country won't fly at half mast, to his name they will add a gold star.
Yes, somebody killed a policeman today, maybe in your town or mine. While we slept in the comfort behind our locked doors, a cop put his life on the line.
Now his ghost walks the beat on a dark city street, and stands at each rookies side.
He answered the call, of himself he gave all, and a part of America died.

Here's one I have framed at the office.

My Job
It's not my place to run the train,
The whistle I can't blow,
It's not my place to say how far the trains allowed to go,
It's not my place to shoot off steam or even clang the bell,
But let the damn thing jump the track and see who catches hell!
