I've always wondered how obeying the laws these obviously much smarter and much greater than the average demo voter (seen the movie "Idiocracy"? The funniest movie of our future that will scare you straight movie ever made) have written, and is followed to the word, is somehow a "loophole".

Straight from the mealy mouths at OPB Communist broadcasting network. Why not for the sake of eliminating the backlog they just run a check on CHL holders that comes back valid or invalid? CHL holders are already BGC'd so unless it's revoked they should be good to go. Those who don't have a valid CHL would still need to go through a BGC.
Used to be that way - one perk I used to enjoy, but no more.

I don't see how it changes anything in a practical sense. I've never had a LGS that would make use of the 3 day rule for me.

Wait for it.

First remove the "loophole" then slowly defund the OSP so that it takes longer to approve. Then stop the "sharing" agreement with NICS/etc. kind of like WA state did, and pretty soon you have gun buyers waiting weeks or even months to buy guns.

Give it time.

I am glad I have pretty much all the guns and ammo I will ever need or want - it is only going to get worse for both. The anti-gun movement is playing the long game, as they have for decades (another 13 years and the NFA will have been in place for a century).

I know, that would make too much sense so never mind. FUAC/FUKB

The article is typical anti-gun lies, fantasy, and BS:

"That gap is known as the Charleston loophole, named after Dylann Roof, the South Carolina man who killed nine Black people during a Bible study at the Emanuel African Methodist Episcopal Church in Charleston, South Carolina. Roof was allowed to buy the gun he used in the 2015 mass shooting after his background check results took longer than three days. Because he admitted to drug possession during an earlier arrest, Roof would have been prohibited from purchasing the gun."

Roof would NEVER have been denied, and would have cleared the BCG given enough time. His drug conviction was misfiled in the wrong county, and so, never would have been found by the government. He did not take possession of the weapon and then go on a killing spree. He had the weapon for weeks or months before using it to kill anyone.

The "loophole" is not a loophole at all. It is a DESIGNED FEATURE to safeguard against the bureaucracy purposely dragging its feet on BGCs indefinitely in order to deny people their rights.

The only FFL that I know of from previous experience is Tigard Pawn 4 More that will hand over a firearm five days after OSP doesn't extend a delay after they put your BGC on hold, which is usually around 35 days.
The owner believes in your rights and will work with you to keep them.

Cute how almost all progressive's solutions involve more spending and by extension a bigger government. EXCEPT anything that might in anyway shape or form benefit gun owners in pursuit of reducing gun violence. Hire sufficient OSP staff? In-school firearm safety classes? Public ranges? Free Private-Private transfers at police stations? Nah

For some....spending more makes sense. More Govt......to solve their problems? Rrrrright......

OPB is despicable. The mealy mouthed, implication and supposition presented as fact, writing in the article is only the latest in a never ending spew of rot from them.

And I used to subscribe.

Ages ago, when the "gun show loophole" bill in Oregon was up for a vote (and later passed), I had an exchange with the news director. I've always been a 2A guy, but back in the day was also a centrist. So when that bill was up and I heard the "news" reporting on it I wrote and, I thought, persuasively presented the facts around the bill and why their reporting was inaccurate.

Their "news" repeatedly conflated all sales at gun shows with private sales. I pointed out that the vast majority of gun show sales were through dealers, which already had to go through a bgc no matter where they took place. I pointed out that straw purchases were already illegal. I pointed out that anyone selling firearms, anywhere, who was acting as a dealer and not doing bgc were already in violation of the law. I pointed out that private sales to prohibited persons were already illegal. I pointed out that, statistically, private sales to non-prohibited persons were simply not a real world issue; such guns were not used in crimes in any volume that mattered.

Thus, I asked that he please modify their reporting and stop implying - and sometimes actually saying in so many words - that gun shows were free-for-alls, and this bill would "fix" that.

He said nope. Their reporting had no errors or bias. So they wouldn't change anything.

And the scales fell from my eyes.

Your post got me thinking.....
Gun Show Sales and Loophole.

Then.....how about the Gun Store?

I have always wondered why obeying the law is considered a "loop hole".
I've used the line, "It's not a loophole, it's the LAW" dozens of times.

Along that same, ditzy path, another argument that lacks self awareness is one that happens in CA pretty often concerning "featureless" ARs, bullet buttons, etc;
"We make a law and the evil gun- (owners, manufacturers, sellers, pick one) find a way around it! We need another law... u know, on top of the other one!"
Yeah? Or, another way of saying that is; "OBEYING YOUR STUPID LAW, A__HOLE!"
