Hmm that first M1A looks almost exactly like what I'm trying to do with mine. Whats the name of the front grip on that one 5.9er? Fired about 400 rounds out of it and I love the SOCOM, sure a bit loud but hey when you squeeze one off the guy downrange knows who is the boss. Very little recoil too. I'm about decided on the Aimpoint, doing some shopping around at the moment.

It's the Magpul AFG.

I actually got my Ultimak rail and put my H1 on it this weekend. I'll try and take some pics tonight. Perfect lower 1/3 cowitness with the irons on my M14.

With the ML3 I'm looking at the ARMS #22M68, wondering if it will be low enough for cowitness with the irons

I know with the Aimpoint low mount, the ML3 will co-witness. Don't know about the ARMS mount.
