I havent been to a fast food restaurant in at least 3 decades. I saw that pic posted here in Hawaii and had a bit of shock. I had no idea
I shouldn't have said we haven't eaten in ANY of these places. We do eat at McD's, once every other week, or less. It's a quick something, we split, one of her days off that we enjoy. Split two Mcdoubles and a large fry. Using the app on her phone and Thursdays is a discounted large fry. And the burgers are buy one get one for $1.00. Comes in around $6.00.

Did the same thing at Carl Jr's last weekend. No drinks, except water. 👍

Can eat a 10oz Ribeye, 4 eggs, and veggies at home for that much. Just wow.
Felt like burgers for dinner last night, didn't have any of the makings besides condiments.
85% ground beef, mushrooms, onion, onion brioche buns, blue cheese, plus broccoli and salad, $18.
A hearty dinner for four.
It was $3.98/lb for the 85%, $5.98/lb for the 93%. That was a no brainier....

Jeez…. Just look at the CALORIES that sheit has!
It isn't the calories that will kill you. The 'vegetable', seed, soy oils that are reused 10x+ times in cooking are one of the most toxic things you can put in a human body. Worse than smoking or sugars because those can be cleared from the body in hours or months.

These toxins accumulate in the body and stay there for 2-3 YEARS, compounding. Wonder why pretty much no one got cancer 100 years ago? Well, there you go. Start with mostly fake meat strained of every nutrient, throw in cancer fries - and YUM. I digress ......

Inflation is NOT going away and what you will get for your inflated printed out of thin air currency, in terms of quality, will also continue its steep decline. Not only are fast food places raising prices to the moon, they are also using the least expensive, most unhealthy ingredients.

A gallon of former machine parts oil in gallon form at Grocery Outlet - $3.79. Then reuse it 10x-50x times.

LOL.

I called my local federal representative in February and asked about the Fed's Earning remittances due to the treasury since at that time it was negative 140 billion and dropping like a rock.

(This is how much the Fed makes in profit and gives it back to the treasury. As you can see, it is making negative profit, otherwise known has a poop load of debt and it will pay this off someday by printing cash which of course drives Whopper prices up. )

I got a message back today, 4 months later, from her intern stating they are fighting inflation with a farm bill and child tax credit. Well hot darn, I pooped my britches! WE IS SAVED!

A loaf of the house brand white bread at Freddy's is now $1.99. Regular price was $0.99 pre-covid. That's a 100% increase in 4 years.

I dont eat bread anymore but it is $13.39 a loaf for the basic Loves white in Hawaii.

That's pretty crazy.
For the last some odd years I've been using way more tortillas than bread.
A cubic footish of them at Winco is like $7.. something like ten packs of ten in a bag and they're excellent and freeze perfectly. Breakfast burritos, toasted buttered cinnamon frizbees, melted cheese saucers, peanut butter and jelly.. you name it.
One thing I don't miss about Hawaii (Oahu) is the prices.

We've given up the major commercial breads that can last weeks on end in the cupboard. We've gone to fresh baked artesian breads that break out in penicillin after a few days.
I talked Wife into getting another bread machine a while back and LOVE it. The old one we had we got over 20 years ago. New one if of course FAR fancier. She not only makes different kinds of bread but makes Pizza dough that makes great personal size pies. Also one down side she found a recipe to make cinnamon rolls that are to die for and super easy. Only problem with them is me eating too damn many when she makes them :D
