It was the economy that killed GH Bush's chances at reelection, and Congress passing new taxes anyways when he famously said "read my lips, no new taxes".

It was the economy crashing during Covid thing that basically killed Trump's chance at reelection, and it will be the economy that will play against or for Trump this year.

I don't watch any news. Only news I get is listening to talk radio and reading here. I read some of the articles linked here if there isn't too much advertisement flashing/talking on them. I figure I'm just as well informed as anyone who watches all the news all the time. And I KNOW, I'm less frustrated/angry!

Oh, and I take all of it with a grain of salt, and common sense.

I make a point of watching and listening to "news" from the far left often. It is often enough to raise my BP to high levels but, I want to hear what they are spouting. Reason? A hell of a lot of people listen to them and "think" they are being told the truth. Comes in handy when someone brings it up to me. Most of the far left kooks I work with will not bother any more. Often people who really are not sure will ask though. So its nice to have some idea of what crap they have been told as a way to point them to the other info.
Its also to me important to watch them. Many are trying real hard to stoke violence. They are trying real hard to set off more kooks. When they do they will of course pretend they had nothing to do with it as they support it. Since I may be caught in the middle I like to try to see what's coming down the line.

I just bought a 5-gallon pail of specialty industrial chemical for work yesterday, that I typically buy once a year. The price last year was $1500. This year it's $1850. I'm seeing these kinds of prices hikes all the time at work lately.

Heck, that's only a 20% ish or so raise in price. I've seen every day/week/month purchases that have increase close to 100%. but those aren't the things they count. How convenient!

A lot of it comes from the price of fuel which raises the cost of freight and conveniently gets built into the cost of the goods at purchase.
Unfortunately, the left wants to keep the cost of fuel up (despite saying the opposite) because they want to keep pushing toward the "clean energy future" we've been promised time and time again. Shutting down pipelines etc. and stoking wars that keeps fuel prices high is all in another day's work for those who push an agenda.

I'm no rocketnomics appliancetist, but wouldn't it take sustained, record-setting deflation to get us back to where we were before record breaking inflation?

I get that there's so many factors in inflation, and the Biden administration isn't 100% at fault, but stone faced lying.....jeez, it *IS* the responsibility of those in power to honestly acknowledge a problem, but people are happier with the lies, I guess?

Some of those are people who made HUGE money off the great hoax. A LOT of people got VERY wealthy over that. So much so they don't even notice whats going on now.

Those are the 20% that make enough, or already have enough, to not worry what happens to the economy. I'd have to guess that those 20% will be among the ones voting for FJBrandon for another term.
