I am glad to read that the daughter is recovering.
That said , stories like this do a massive amount of harm to gun owners.

By all means , be armed...but also be sure of you target and that it really is a threat.

I recently had to try to wake a close family friend to notify him of a sudden death of his closest friend and my brother in law.

When I could not get him to answer the phone or doorbell, I went back and told everyone, "I am not going to wake him up. That is a good way to wind up dead. It can wait.".

Took him shooting last week and got to see the snub nose .357 that I avoided that night.:cool:
 
Reminds me of a story my grandma told me. she was friends of a lady whose husband was on Bataan and got to go on that lovely march.
Said he almosy killed her twice when she tried to wake him up for something.:eek:
