I'm planning on going nutria hunting in the next few weeks. I live in Vancouver, and am looking for good places to go, ideally where I can shoot them. (ie. Within Yacolt burn, larch mountain, etc.) Also general recommendations are helpful too.

Nutria are water animals, not aware of any in the Yacolt burn, Larch Mtn area. Additionally Nutria are classified as "furbearers" and a trapping license and regulations would also apply I believe. Not supposed to just shoot and leave them IMO.

I stand corrected, just checked, Nutria are not furbearers any more and are !not protected. A small game license would be required to shoot them however. They are still water animals and I am not aware of any in the Yacolt burn, Larch mtn area unless things have changed since high school in 1967. I retired from the game dept. in 2011 after 32 years, things/laws change!

Nutria are invasive species. I see them frequently around Lake River, and the canals and sloughs around Ridgefield wildlife refuge.
Unfortunately I don't think they want you popping vermin at the wildlife refuge.
If you can find private property around Lake River or Vancouver Lake, you might be able to shoot some. With a small game hunting license of course.

Capitol lake used to be infested with them.
Not sure if the Olympia fent zombies have eaten them all yet.

Wouldn't it be fun to camp on the governors lawn , and run a big rat bar-b-q this 4th of July?

Used to see them all the time in the little wetland area next to Red Robbin but I don't think the city would appreciate someone hunting over there lol

Nope.
Rethink your plan of attack.
As stated above, nutria are found in the low country - Columbia river backwaters.
Lake River is a good example. A boat should be part of the plan.

In Louisiana, they eat young ones under 10lb.

Yes, some turn their noses up at them, the same ones that eat squirrels and rabbits...go figure...
