How often does a SWAT team go up against a moderatly-trained force of more than a couple people? The cartels have also been ambushing large groups of the Mexi Federal Police on the road in a similar manner (blocking the road and firing from distance).

What's going to happen once that starts happening here?

There will be a full-court press to squash any acts that target LEOs, like happened in Hemet, CA recently. The bad guys ramp up, the good guys ramp up more. It's not even a contest in this country.

This is not Mexico, and the cartels will never penetrate law enforcement as fully and deeply as they have in the third-world kleptocracies. They'll be able to initially inflict some damage to be sure, but then they'll have to switch back to softer targets or die.

It's cold comfort, though, because it means that their criminal acts will focus on regular folks like us, which law enforcement will be unable to protect us against as the nation slowly goes broke.
