If you have a featured semi automatic center fire rifle (even one evil feature such as a pistol grip), and the rifle was not registered as an "assault weapon" during the past registration windows, then the gun must have a magazine mechanism which requires "disassembly of the action" to remove. Pistols are subject to very similar laws.

Move to a free state.

But, but I can't afford to. (get used to the idea of being a passive subject then...)

When the so-called 'authorities' come for your guns (and you) you'll wish you'd been a bit more assertive and left when the gettin was good.

You better look over your shoulder Manny............... A name change for Austin, Texas?

Next it will be the rainbow flag flying over The Alamo

And the demographics moving into California are people who are not paying taxes, statistically they are likely to draw from public services. Once universal taxpayer-funded state healthcare for everyone physically in CA passes, everyone in the North American continent without health insurance and suffering from disease will move there for the "free" health care. It will get worse before it gets better there.

Any new Semi automatic rifle in CA cannot have a detachable magazine and, 1.) a pistol grip you can wrap your hand around, 2.) a folding stock, 3.) a flash hider

To get around this, some creative guys came up with the bullet button, but even that is no longer an option. So for example, a Ruger mini 14 is totally legal, unless you put a flash hider on it or a folding stock, then it has to have a fixed magazine. M1A's shipped to CA have to have a muzzle brake and not a flash hider. If you put a magazine that can hold more than 10 rounds into either of those, you just created an assault weapon.

As far as the nuttyness in CA goes, I predict in the next 20-30 years they will be building a wall around it, to keep people from escaping.

The beauty of vaguely worded laws is the interpretation is up to the powers that be.

Cool thing is these dumbass policies are spurring innovation.

There is a cottage industry in CA working to subvert these laws the day they go into effect. For example, the inventor of the "bullet button" had an alternative system ready to be distributed the day the new magazine law to "disassemble the action" superseded the old law of "remove with a tool". He had worked on the solution using the draft of the bill.

The new vague definition tho could lend itself to "well that's not disassembled ENOUGH" arbitrarily being used.

In California, you have/had 3 options:

1.) register (deadline is now past) to have your fully featured "assault weapon"
2.) have a fixed mag where you need to pull the pin and break the action for a mag to drop out and re-load (or use a solution like in the video ???)
3.) go featureless - take off all the so called "evil features" and you can have a regular magazine release to drop mags

Is it a pain to live in CA with the current gun laws or those that may be coming - you bet'cha! However, seeing some of the laws that have recently passed in WA, OR and are being proposed/talked about there and in NV, maybe others need to invest in a codpiece to protect their "nut sacs."

Put another way, it might not be prudent to be pointing your finger at your gelded neighbor when someone is behind you reaching between your legs to do the deed while you aren't paying attention :)

Cigar...

I hear ya.

commies are overtaking all major Texas cities.

So we in the country are hanging on, but the ever increasing commie mind set is a pernicious influence even here in 'good ole boy country'...what with fracking/insistent commie/weirdo politics...Oh you're a tranny, well you must be some kinda 'royalty' eh...? (ah, no, you're just a garden variety pervert whose somehow been accepted by commies as allies...)

When civil war breaks out, as it seems we're heading for, some aren't willing to give in to commie politics sexual or political...
