Yeah we are. I used to get instants. But somehow Kotek messed it up. Now they are are making regular citizens second class citizens to veteran military and law enforcement. Or that's what they are trying to do.

Am neither, yet still get instants. Used to be always instants, nowadays randomly. No rhyme nor reason.

I started with nothing, and after a lifetime as an honest cop I've still got most of it... That is to say I doubt I make anyone 2nd class anything in comparison. But I hear you.

I've been told that if you have a unique last name that you get approved quicker. Seems to be the case. I have a friend with a weird last name and she always gets an "instant".

Not in all cases. Ask me how I know.

Ffl told me last time he can run chl + drivers, or chl only. I got put in line the 2 purchases before and last time he did chl only and I got an instant. He said next time remind him to run chl only. Could be just a coincidence though of course.

Guy doing mine said the chl trick doesn't work anymore. Said I heard otherwise so I want to try it. Chl only was my first insta so I feel like it's the way to go.

This seems to be the consensus. If you have a common name, (think something like Robert Williams, to make up an example) odds are you share that name with dozens, perhaps hundreds of people, some of whom have likely have a criminal record. So you'll have to be manually reviewed to make sure you're not one of them. If you have an unusual name, it's less likely.

There are exceptions though! I typically get instant approvals, but sometimes it's the gun that causes a need for manual review. For example if it shares a serial number with a gun that's been reported stolen (e.g. different make and/or mode).
