I just received a new contoured barrel blank. My question is should there still be metal in the rifling like strings hanging towards the center void of the barrel? Its cut rifling and honed supposedly, but it seems to me a barrel should come from the manufacturer clean from metal shavings and such...

I will try to get pictures but it's obviously difficult.

Thanks

"Hanging"?
Can it all be completely removed with a single pass of a patch?
if so, and it looks good, it is good.. if the patch hangs up on those "strings", that's not good at all

Okay I will run a patch tonight, they are saying it's most likely fine when I called. That said it doesn't seem like there should be debris in the barrel when its shipped out to the customer. Am I wrong in expecting a "clean" match barrel?
