Going to be interesting to see how quickly the "2nd Amendment Rights section" turns into an office coordinating with States on how to twist Bruen, Heller, etc into defending the right of States and Feds to infringe on the 2A

"The section intends to execute the broad policy directions from a February executive order issued by President Donald Trump directing Attorney General Pam Bondi to comb the entire U.S. government to "assess any ongoing infringements" of gun rights."

You mean like the time bump stocks were banned?

Personally, I despise both parties and nearly every politician. I have yet to see an administration that hasn't trampled our civil rights in one form or another, almost always under the guise of "safety". They can pander to whoever they want, I remember what they've done.

Indeed. If Congress can't get a filibuster proof vote on certain things or even if Congress can't push certain bills out of committee (coughs Senate Tax/Finance committee coughs) , they should not look to the Judicial branch to do their bidding.

I thought they were trying to reduce the size and scope of the Federal government?

Same swamp, different toads.

Looks like it's time to shut down the government again. For real this time.
A permanent shut down of the Federal Government, with only the State governments still functioning, complete refunding with interest of the taxpayers trillions, the complete abolishment &dissolving of the Federal Government, leaving only the States to run their states as they want to? What could go wrong? :s0140:

Did they happen to explain how this federal agency will somehow magically safeguard the rights of Americans from their own elected officials, who just happen to also control the purse strings for federal agencies? Inquiring minds would like to know.

For those who need to read text.....

The brief in .PDF form from Fox News.

The 2A doesn't say "shall not be infringed, subject to State laws and interpretation to the contrary"
Exactly; States rights just means they can govern "everything else" not enshrined in the Constitution. It's long been held that the States can't abridge Constitutionally/Federally protected rights (though this certainly doesn't stop them from trying/succeeding)!

Just once, I'd like one of the District Courts Judges, to lawyers on 2A side, ask this question to the Supremes...

"Where in dictionaries at the time til now, does the word "infringe" in the context of 2A, mean that 2A is subject to limitations on what arms the people can keep and bear? "

Because, in my limited, non-lawyer searches, all the definitions of "infringe" means "to violate, break laws, break contracts" and "to hinder, to destroy".

Don't these definitions basically say 2A cannot be limited (hindered)?
