Just because they're decriminalizing polygamy doesn't mean you need to pick up stakes and go immediately. But if you're level set, wish you the best, man.

After K8 and her Demo groupies sloshed the State I loved and had supported for so many years....great wife and family, six kids all born in Coos County and graduates of Bend HS, we sold and bounced over to MT. Until a bit ago I had been in MT pretty much continuously. We are wrapping up a sale on our last bit of property in Turner, and family will be there full time mid-June. We got tired of the constant heart burn from one Demo scheme to the other to rob us of our rights, our guns, our money, and now, the ability to access the woods. She was the first governor to turn a state into a world-wide abortion destination resort. And that is just a start. But the accumulation of Demo theft of our peace and dignity was enough. We're done. Some of the kids will remain here while they struggle to raise their children against the tide of Communist indoctrination.

Native Oregonian, I've had enough. Moving to Utah... Good luck.
When are you moving? What part of Utah?
I've considered moving there as well, spent a week around SLC last June just to check it out.

I like big evergreens! Makes me sad that I'll probably be moving away from them sometime.

Unfortunately, I'm stuck here because of my job, but if I were moving, this is most of what I need to know:

If it's not dark red, I'm not moving there.

Edit: I'm not a native Oregonian. I've lived here about 5 years. If Oregon was a red state, it would be paradise.

As a current deep red state resident yeah, its pretty good. I had other issues with Oregon. The schools were absolute garbage unless you happen to be in certain Portland districts, taxes are way too high with almost nothing in return. Government was the picture of incompetence and I don't just mean the governor and political caste. Even the DMV and other licensing agencies were completely and totally incompetent. Entire generations live deep in the welfare culture. The Portland to Eugene neo hippie culture, I could go on.

Native here too. I wish I could move away as well but as long I'm married it will never happen. My wife doesn't discuss politics, but she's blue, and never wants to move away because all her family is here.

What is beyond the scope of most, is that during the late 1970 and 1980s there was a mass exodus of Californians escaping the damage they have done to California to only damage Oregon like they damaged California. If we pay attention Texas has been Californiated and it is barely conservative. Arizona ? Nevada has been destroyed, Idaho is like a snow ball in hades from the Californians. Not all Californians are bad, just most from the cities.

This is the norm. People who vote for top down soon turn the place they live into a sewer. So those with means up and move to a place that was freedom loving. Problem is as soon as they get there they start to vote to turn the new home into the same sewer they left. What makes it worse is so many freedom loving people either help the wrong people win or refuse to vote at all, so the sewer wins.

I wish you all the luck in the world on your move. Thinking back on my own flight from Blue, you would be smart to rent rather than buy a home because it is easier to move on if your initial assessment of the area falls short of expectations.

Not being a native and moving here as a part time resident, there is a lot to like about Oregon, but the political climate is not one of them. I hope that your move to Utah is all you want it to be, I know that in the near future I will be leaving when I am done working, its really a shame how progressives and socialists have ruined the Pacific Northwest. I can only imagine what it was like here 50 years ago.

If I were to move back to Utah, I came to PDX from The Salt Lake Valley in 1983, I would NOT plant myself anywhere along The Wasatch Front. They have massive temperature inversions during winter that make the air grey with smog for days at a time. Unfortunate for me I couldn't go back to the freezing cold or stifling heat of Utah again. Or Montana, Wyoming, Idaho where we traveled a lot as I was growing up, and into adulthood.

Congrats man! Be sure to check out our sister site :s0155:
