The island of Manhattan, one bead.In 1839 a J.Henry "Lancaster Pattern" rifle was $9.50....( $283.93 in today's dollars )
A Hawken Rifle was $38.00. ( Yikes ! ) ( $1,135.70 in today's dollars )
Both rifles were listed as being sold by the Upper Missouri Outfit.

Very interesting read. I have an old M.L. Rood swivel breech and while doing a little Google-Fu on it found this which I thought was pretty interesting, albeit a bit off topic as I don't see any prices listed, but interesting nonetheless. This was sent to me and as such it may already have been posted here but found this to be really interesting.
