there are very few authentic Mosin PEM sniper rifles still surviving, so I built a clone
started with the most accurate of my many Mosins, a '31 Izhevsk hex
    clone PEM side scope mount
    clone PE adj focus scope
    bent bolt by Sheppards Bolts
    stainless steel firing pin spring
shimmed and torqued per the old Russian manual
full relieved stock, floated barrel, with cork at the muzzle for support
I hand lapped the bolt to the receiver by cycling it 1000 times with G-B paste
and deep in her belly is a Timney match trigger, without safety bar
after extensive testing, found she likes Brown Bear 174 gn FMJ ammo best
    cheek rest from Brass Stacker
the target talks for itself - off the bench at 100 yds
the pre-war Russian snipers had to qualify at 800 yds with rifles like this

the flier was me, not the rifle
I flinched with the anticipated recoil of the heavy 174 gn load
with proper trigger control and a good shooting jacket, my goal is all 5 rnds in one hole at 100 yds
and this is without hand loads, just off the shelf Brown Bear 174 gn FMJ
the Mosin has wonderful potential - IF you get a good barrel and take the time to work with one.
This started as a $180 rifle from Big 5. But this is a pre-war quality control rifle, not one of the mass produced war time Mosins that were built in 11 hrs.
back in the day, I would go into Big 5 and ask them to bring out every Mosin they had in stock that week. Then I would inspect each one and choose the one that met my quality requirements. Big 5 sold a LOT of Mosins in the NW!!

Nice rifle. I always liked the pem set-up better then the pu scope. The pu scope was meant to go on to the svt 40 sniper rifles. The svt 40 was not a very accurate sniper rifle . so they started putting the pu scopes on the 91/30 rifle.

Nice... VERY nice! An all-in-one-hole should be well withing the ability of that rifle. In the X-ring, too ;)
