One of the newer forum members has a gun and presentation case for sale in the classifieds.
The member uses the word "mint" in the description of the case.
In my opinion, It is far from "mint", as it has been modified a great deal, and is not in original condition.
I pm'd the member , to avoid thread crapping, and advised him that the item was far from original.
It would appear his definition of "mint" would be based on lack of apparent visual defects, regardless of originality.
Also, the case is not original to the gun.
What say you all?
Best,
Gary
I was told to use your Ebay rules when perusing the classifieds, of course making enemies using PM's is still allowed

Mint is somewhere between Spearmint and Peppermint.

Mint to some means sweet or cherry or awesome.

To me it's as close to original condition from the factory or restored to original.

And.. don't most reputable companies test fire their wares before shipping to FFLs for retail?
Most, but not all, it seems. The US of A has NO provision for either state-level or national proofing of guns. The SAAMI documentation is a bunch of recommended standards that manufacturers are NOT legally required, in law, to comply with. Here in Europe and a couple of other countries, the CIP is LAW, that's why every gun made in the USA has to be proofed before it can be sold in the 14 CIP signaturee nations.

Just from reading this thread, I can see how a seller (or buyer) could be confused. LOL.

I say, "Let the buyer beware." Ask the right questions or for more pictures. Personally, if I read "mint", I would at a minimum expect the item to be in really good condition.

I bought a set of Titleist golf irons off of ebay that were listed as "mint". They were selling for about 65% of what a new set would have cost. When they arrived, the heads were wrapped in plastic and I couldn't find a mark on them. If they had been sold to me as "new", I wouldn't have been able to tell the difference. I was quite happy with "mint" condition in that case, but really wouldn't have been upset with something not quite as pristine given the pricing difference.
